About Me
Hello! I am Saskia (they/she).

Having graduated with a degree in Speech Therapy from the University of Cape Town in 2011, I spent the following decade gaining clinical experience working in hospitals across South Africa and the UK, serving clients of all ages and backgrounds. During this period, I discovered a passion for neurological rehabilitative speech therapy and assisted clients in regaining their speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing abilities after neurological injuries or illnesses. Most recently, I led the Speech Therapy Department at Khayelitsha Hospital in Cape Town from 2016 to 2021. In this leadership role, I grew as a clinician, supervisor, teacher, and advocate for my department and its clients.

In 2021, I established my own practice with the additional goal of creating a safe, affirming, and inclusive space to explore communication, authenticity and identity. From both my professional and personal experiences, I understand the critical importance of a safe and affirming environment. Since launching my practice, I have been thrilled to offer gender-affirming and neurodiversity-affirming voice and communication services. As a non-binary person diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood, I believe my lived experience provides valuable insight and understanding, enhancing my skills and insights as a therapist. I am deeply committed to my clients, and to providing up to date and evidence-based services.

Providing a safe and affirming space where clients can learn to explore and express their most authentic selves, both verbally and nonverbally, has been the most humbling and rewarding step of my career!
